Pisa's famous Piazza del Duomo, known as Piazza dei Miracoli, stands proud as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The tower was built in the 12th century, stands 56 m high (186 ft.), and took on its characteristic tilt some 10 years after the start of its construction. This tower is now one of the most famous monuments in Italy and considered a wonder of the modern world.
